The Insulator Seal division of MDC Vacuum Products, LLC recently collaborated with the Fermilab Accelerator Science and Technology (FAST) facility to manufacture a Kicker Insulator Break Assembly for the Integrable Optics Test Accelerator (IOTA).


The Kicker Insulator Break Assembly was designed for use on the Integrable Optics Test Accelerator (IOTA) ring as a switchyard to inject or extract a beam from the ring. The objectives of the IOTA ring are to carry out experimental studies of high beam intensity effects, to establish a center of excellence in beam theory, modeling, and high-performance computation, and to describe and reliably predict the behavior of existing and new accelerators in the multi-MW era.
